Not Quite Forgotten but Still a Favorite

This is the Tallgrass National Prairie Preserve, located about 20 minutes from Emporia Kansas...The ranch was built in 1881 and was so large that travellers would often stop, mistaking it for Strong City. It's a fun historic site, but also has some wonderful hiking with a pasture containing bison that you can hike through.

Almost Wordess Wednesday

Here is another jewel I came across yesterday.  We stopped by St Anthony Cemetery on highway 177 outside Strong City on the way home from our excursion. My 5 year old loves cleaning up graves- she was so upset when we discovered a tipped headstone that we couldn't lift that she laid on it and cried for 15 minutes.

Today's Adventure

I stumbled on this little family cemetery, right off of highway 50 outside of Strong City, Kansas and couldn't help but to stop and explore. It is the Simmons family plot which I plan on looking into a little further

Welcome to the Forgotten Road

Welcome to the Forgotten Road blog! This is a blog about all the cool "forgotten" places I stumble upon on my adventures in life.  Since I love history and research, many of the places and things will likely be focused on those, but if there is something non-historical that catches my eye I will post that as well.  Thanks for your interest in my journey.  Comments are always welcome and of course feel free to subscribe to follow me as I go!
